Thread: New Tank

    New Tank

We are getting a well established fully planted tank. I am setting it up in front of a window. Will a background on the tank be enough or do I need to blackout the window or is the light good? I don't know what kind of plants are in the tank yet. My only other option would be to take down a double 55 and move it to the window.

A background will help a lot. What type of lid do you have? Glass or plastic?

No lid plant light over the tank. She says the plants are java fern, some coffee bean plant looking thing the bottom is micro swords and there are several tiger lotus, val some cryptcorns(is that right) some of the leafy green plant that can get tall. So the light through a window is not good right? I can black it out just need to before I go pick it up. And Thanks for your help.

Light will most likely cause algae blooms. I would cover it if you can.

Yeah, I would cover it for sure with blinds or curtains. It will lead to greenwater and algae blooms for sure.

Is there a recommended website for planted tanks? I don't know what to do with it now.

plantedtank.net is a good one. Jentheplantfreak is a Indy girl. She works on 96th street (well, that was 2007 or so).
